Little Yoga Friends introduces invaluable life skills to children of all ages, through a fusion of developmentally appropriate yoga and the creative arts, making yoga engagingly playful.
One of the greatest gifts we can preserve for our children is the ability to be present in the moment. Yoga teaches children to slow down, to observe their thoughts, and to feel safe and calm within their own bodies. Through breath work, yoga postures, and relaxation techniques, the practice of yoga helps to improve:
- focus
- emotional regulation
- self-esteem
- physical well-being
Introducing yoga to young children allows them to integrate these tools into their lives from an early age, creating a toolbox they are able to access throughout their lifetime.
Shana Hardgrave, Founder of Little Yoga Friends
Shana's yoga mat became her little slice of calm over 20 years ago when she began practicing between graduate school classes in the frenetic buzz of New York City . Having grown up near the beach in Southern California, Shana found that yoga offers her the opportunity to find steadiness, even without the sand between her toes. From NYC, to London, and finally to Boston, where she became a mother, Shana has used yoga as her go-to for grounding into the moment.
Shana is a 200-hour RYT & 95-hour RCYT (South Boston Yoga & ChildLight Yoga, respectively), and has an academic background in Education. Shana's two young daughters inspired her to begin teaching yoga to children, and she absolutely loves bringing her knowledge and passions together to create fun and engaging classes for little ones.
“I love Ms. Shana’s class because I love yoga and Ms. Shana is so good at teaching. Downward Dog is my favorite pose!”
